What is Excess Insurance for rental cars?

Excess insurance is the amount you have to pay to the rental company in case of damages to the vehicle during the hire period. Excess Insurance Reduction, usually known as CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) or CDR (Collision Damage Reduction), can be bought for an extra fee and reduces or nil your liability in case of damages to the vehicle.
